![]() ![]() ![]() Bring back the smutty Tumblr we all knew and loved. ( Tumblr traffic has been down ever since the site went G-rated.) Engineer better filters and reporting systems to create a Tumblr without child porn, obviously. A hugely popular plugin for the WordPress website builder was carrying a high-severity flaw that could have allowed threat actors. The content for horny teens and horny adults alike. An Elementor library allowed attackers to reset anyones password. Bring back the nipples - “female-presenting” or otherwise - and the sexy GIFs. Automattic’s CEO Matt Mullenweg told the Journal he intends to uphold the ban.īut, Automattic … this could be your moment. The outright ban ultimately seemed like Tumblr deciding it was easier to eliminate all NSFW content, rather than built out the systems to flag, delete, and report illegal content, like child porn. ![]() In November 2018, Tumblr was temporarily banned from the App Store due to child porn on the platform. It was a highly effective system that informed users their posts of things like bowls of fruit and pictures of a particularly well-muscled Garfield the cat were NSFW. Specifically, the ban declared that the site would no longer allow “photos, videos, or GIFs that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples, and any content - including photos, videos, GIFs and illustrations - that depicts sex acts.” (You’ll note the “human” specification.)Įarlier in December, Tumblr used AI to flag adult content for deletion. Which, if you’re at all familiar with Tumblr, you know was a big part of the draw. Which sounds silly but honestly might not have been a totally terrible match, given that the final nail in the Tumblr coffin was the ban of all adult content on the platform in December of 2018. At one point, PornHub said it was interested in buying the site. Verizon has been seeking a buyer for Tumblr for months, according to reports. Verizon is selling Tumblr to Automattic, the owner of WordPress - a website-publishing tool - for a price The Wall Street Journal calls “nominal.” For comparison, Yahoo (which was acquired by Verizon in 2017) paid $1.1 billion for Tumblr back in 2013. DCA has secured further funding for Robert Jackson to explore new possibilities of drawing in 3D programs including Rhino7 and Blender using a commercial Tobii eye-tracking device.Tumblr, a website that used to be - and occasionally still is - quite good, has slowly died a very public death at the hands of its owner, Verizon. The original EyeCanDraw project was funded by Creative Scotland and sought to investigate 2D methods of production using Robert’s home-made eye-tracking device. The research will consider how drawing directly with the eyes in this manner could lead to a new visual language within the artists’ printmaking practice as they re-access and re-engage with direct drawing techniques. In using an eye-tracking device to draw it requires the user to develop a learned ability to limit this natural movement and to control the eye to create point-to-point based line. The human eye naturally moves in a series of constant jumps called saccades. The technique of recording data in this project is to save the drawn image files in vector based point-to-point format and thus allow the image created to be read by computer numerical control (CNC)/computer aided design (CAD) based devices. These tests record and visualise eye movement in many different ways, from mapping points of concentration as visualised heat spots or by point-to-point tracking. Eye-tracking devices have been commercially available for some time and primarily used to examine the human eyes for specific medical conditions and to measure the motion of the eye in consumer situations. This research will explore how drawing with your eyes is essentially a counter-intuitive process that requires new learning to allow for the intuitive mark. Examples in the images below include 3D printed sculpture, CNC carved timber and digital engraving plates for drypoint printmaking. It is hoped that this research will be beneficial to artists with limited dexterity and further drawing possibilities within contemporary printmaking and art practice.
